When you install a flow regulator in your shower head, you save water and energy. However, how much water and energy is consumed and how much CO2 emitted to produce the flow regulator in the first place? What is the relation between expenditures and savings?
An eco-balance study by the Technische Universität Berlin was conducted to answer these questions. The results could not be clearer. With the flow regulator in use for ten years, the resources consumed during its production process are recouped after a few days' use.
